I needed this information one time when I had to tell myfriend to meet me at the location i was at and he asked me what is street name and suburb so he can put it his GPS. I could not find anything and i kepts runnning arround asking other people for the suburb of the current location.

Re: How to find your current location details

Hello, masimawan. I do not own an iPhone, and therefore also don't own the TomTom navigation app for iPhone. However, I see that over 50 people have looked at this post but not responded - so I thought I'd try to give you what advice I could.

I found the TomTom for iPhone Reference Guide on TomTom's website. Unfortunately, it wasn't all that informative. Glancing through it did give me some ideas, though:
  1. You could enable POI View (described in the "Showing POIs on the Map" section on page 24 of the US English guide).
    • Then you might be able to select a POI near your current location and pull up its details.
  2. You could try creating a "My Location" entry in your Favorites for your current location (described in the "Favorites" section on page 26 of the US English guide).
    • Then go in to Manage Favorites and see if you can pull up the details of the My Location favorite. Delete it when you don't need it anymore (or rename it if you want to keep it).
  3. Give your friend your actual coordinates (mentioned on page 20 of the US English guide, in the Browse Map chapter).
    • Many online mapping services (such as Google Maps) can actually use coordinate data as a waypoint or destination.
  4. Give your friend cross-street information, if available - "I'm on A Street, between NE 22nd and 23rd Avenues."
    • I understand this would not be possible if there were no cross-streets, such as along a long stretch of highway.
I realize this may not be all that helpful, but I thought some suggestions would be better than none at all. I don't know if it's different on TomTom map products (or Australia specific products), but here in the USA our GPS mapping systems don't usually include suburb information as a navigation search criteria. At least my Garmin GPS doesn't. I can search by actual address, intersection, coordinates and Points of Interest. I can also find a City (plus a few other options). There's no option for finding a suburb (also known as a district, burough or neighborhood here).

One nice feature on my Garmin is that I can choose Browse Map, and tap a location on the map. A cursor will appear, along with an pop-pop describing that location. If it's along a street, I get something like "1300 Laurel St." If it's at an intersection, I get full information, like:
Cedar St & Cornell St
Lake Oswego, Oregon
97034, United States
Perhaps your TomTom app has the same ability?
