My dad is leaving for OK tomorrow morning I tried to set up my TomTom for him to take with him. It has him traveling thru the snow belts I want to take him another way which is not necessary the quickest way, it keeps giving me the same way to go on all the settings. Is there a way to tell it to take me another way totally.

Re: Newcomer

I'm not familiar with Tom Toms, but is there a way to enter Vias or stops along the route you want it to take? That might force it onto the roads you want.

Re: Newcomer

As great as these GPS units can be, sometimes the best and, believe it or not, easiest way is to "kick it old school" with a paper map/road atlas. Especially for a last minute trip without a lot of time to plan, enter info into the GPS, etc.

What I've done in the past which works well is find the highway/road I want on the paper map and correlate the same thing on the GPS screen by zooming out/scrolling around until I find what I see on paper. Touch that desired area and "GO" to it (or however Tom Tom works to get to a point). Save it as a favorite for the return trip if desired. Do it for as many via type waypoints as desired. It really doesn't take that long.
