My dad is leaving for OK tomorrow morning I tried to set up my TomTom for him to take with him. It has him traveling thru the snow belts I want to take him another way which is not necessary the quickest way, it keeps giving me the same way to go on all the settings. Is there a way to tell it to take me another way totally.

I'm not familiar with Tom Toms, but is there a way to enter Vias or stops along the route you want it to take? That might force it onto the roads you want.

As great as these GPS units can be, sometimes the best and, believe it or not, easiest way is to "kick it old school" with a paper map/road atlas. Especially for a last minute trip without a lot of time to plan, enter info into the GPS, etc. What I've done in the past which works well is find the highway/road I want on the paper map and correlate the same thing on the GPS screen by zooming out/scrolling around until I find what I see on paper. Touch that desired area and "GO" to it (or however Tom Tom works to get to a point). Save it as a favorite for the return trip if desired. Do it for as many via type waypoints as desired. It really doesn't take that long. |
