| Tomtom Data Connection Issues
Hi All- Just got my Tomtom Go 730 and so far I really like the feature set/ cost balance. But I am having no luck getting the device to make a data connection to my AT&T Tilt (HTC TyTN II) which is a supported device according to tomtom. It get's through all the setup menus but when it reaches 65% of progress, it just quits and says "Unable to set up wireless data connection". It gives me the option to set it up manually, but I have no idea how to do that. I have tried calling their customer service, but to no avail. If anyone has insight into this issue, I'd love to know about it. Thanks. |

Turn on your tomtom and your phone. Check that bluetooth is enabled on both Use your phone to look for devices When it finds your tomtom, paring code is 0000 |

Thanks ibisat. I went through both trying to pair the Tomtom to the phone and visa-versa. In the end I solved the problem by using a completly different Wireless Carrier Profile and it worked. I have AT&T Wireless, but on the 300th some-odd try I decided to scroll down when I got to that setting menu and found profiles for "Cingular" and "Cingular (MediaWorks)". I tried the latter and it worked. I have no idea why because Cingular MediaWorks is legacy technology which AT&T rebranded years ago. I'm not complaining since I got the bugger to work! Now, if the traffic reports were even remotely accurate, that would really make my day. Thanks for your response.

Hi All My 1st thread/discussion and something I want to share. I've had TomTom GO520 for just over a year and just renewed my Traffic subs. I then found the TT going slow and decided to reset it to factory settings deleting all the data. Oh no I hear you cry! Yep, when I tried to reconnect data it kept giving the Input Manually option. After several calls to TT and Orange I was a bit desperate .. thinking about ringing Nokia as well (3110c). However, TT sent an e mail describing the exact way to check the phone was set up so that data could be transferred. Orange checked my internet connection settings, said all was OK and sent me appropriate settings for the phone data packet etc.. Still didn't work, stopping at 65%, like everyone else. It was only when I went back to Orange and put pressure on to go through everything suggested by TT line by line, that the problem emerged. Although I had been told more than once that I had unrestricted GPRS, in fact I didn't. There was an automatic bar which prevents youngsters accessing adult and gaming sites etc.. When the Orange support removed the bar, I went back to the TT, clicked on My Services etc and it set up automatically (no manual input needed). Voila. This may be the solution for a number of phones! PS I still can't understand why the data connection worked up until testerday prior to resetting to factory settings, but not after, but .... what the Hell. |
