Newbie question

Hi guys,

A friend of mine gave me a demo model TomTom (XL 340, I think) from an electronics company that was going out of buisness. So far it works, the only problem is it does not have a mini-usb port. It has a port of some sort of memory card, one for the car charger and one I can't identify thats real thin.

I was wondering if anyone knew of any tips to get it hooked up to my laptop?

Thanks for your time

Re: Newbie question

Hello, 440, and welcome to GPS Discussion forums. In regards to your USB connectivy question, I looked at TomTom's support site and found the XL series manual. Frankly, when it comes to describing the cable or providing a part number, the manual wasn't a lot of help. I found a 3rd party retractable cable, but every other online search I did returned standard mini-USB 'B' to USB 'A' style cables. Are you sure the port on the bottom of the GPS unit isn't mini-USB? Perhaps you can post some pictures of the device, showing the ports, to help make identification easier?

Post a picture of the ports. According to TomTom, the XL340 has a USB port.
