| GPS Instructional material
Hi, I am looking for a good instructional manual on using my GPSMAP 60csx. The manual that came with the unit is basically useless. "How about GPS for Dummies"? Reviews on the Garmin GPS60 instructional DVD leads me away from purchasing. Now I have an expensive unit collecting dust. |

Hi hazletc, welcome to the site. What you want to read is based partly on your intended use for your GPS. Since yours is intended for hiking and outdoor activities, I would think a book about that might be best. I have found Amazon a good source for books on GPS use. The 1st book on that page (by Stephen Hinch) is one I got. It has a lot that I don't need about mapping and taking bearings. I have an automotive unit that doubles for simple geocaching. But it does have lots of good material, and he uses Garmin units as examples frequently. Although I would never get it or recommend it, there is a GPS for Dummies on that page, too. Most of us just play with our units until we understand them adequately. Good luck! |
