Chicago, April 10th, 2006 - NAVIGON announced today that its MobileNavigator|5.3 PNA Transonic 5000 received recognition as a leading Wireless Emerging Technology at CTIA WIRELESS 2006. NAVIGON's PNA was the only GPS navigation device highlighted in the consumer application and transportation category.
The PNA Transonic 5000 is a complete all-in-one GPS navigation system with a built-in GPS receiver and real-time traffic updates. Additional features include speed limit warning and turn-by-turn voice guidance. The PNA enables precise door to door navigation anywhere in the U.S. whether by car, bike or foot. Unlike other GPS software, MN|5 allows the user to drive cross country from Boston to San Francisco without ever having to stop and change a map.
"It is truly an honor to receive an award of this magnitude from such a distinguished organization," said Edgar Christen, US General Manager at NAVIGON. "The results reflect NAVIGON's dedication to producing the best the world has to offer in Navigation technology."
The Wireless E-tech Awards program is designed to give industry recognition and exposure to the best wireless products and services in the areas of Consumer, Enterprise and Network technology. Nearly 200 applications were submitted and reviewed by a panel of recognized members of the media, industry analysts and executives, as well as select show attendees. Products were judged on innovation, functionality, technological importance, implementation and overall "wow" factor.
"We are extremely proud of the e-Tech awards program and continually amazed at the level of ingenuity present in the submissions," said Robert Mesirow, vice president and show director for CTIA WIRELESS. "On behalf of CTIA, we congratulate NAVIGON on this accomplishment and look forward to their continued innovation in the field of Wireless Navigation."
Award recipients were announced on April 6 in a ceremony at the Las Vegas Convention Center during the CTIA WIRELESS 2006 Convention.
