Hi guys, I'm a newbie in getting my act together to pull my teeth on how to get my Navigon 8100T registered. The item was purchased on a reburbished basis through Warehouse Deals, Inc. Since the box did not include the paperwork on the serial number that is required to register the item in order to get fresh maps. I have the Product ID number, but then you have to have the serial number to get it registered. Now I am stuck. After looking in the information on the device on my PC that connects with my device to see if I can locate it on the software. There appears to be some stuff there, no serial number though which does not help. I am surprised that the Navigon company did not bother to imprint the serial number right on the device, like it is not removable. They pack it the box with paperwork that has all that information, which can be removed and then sent back to the dealer to return it .Sadly it turns out they stole the serial number for their own use (yes it is illgal according to the guide, which I had to download in order that I understand how to use the device) the guide was also missing sighs. In this case, it turns out that next user (me) who buys it on (used/reburbished case basis) can't register it to get their free freshmaps. In otherwords, they got it and can download freshmaps instead of the person (me) who has the right to have it. Darn; anyway, I was hoping that the serial number might be traceable, and wondered if I opened the device up (a risk for damage), that there might be a serial number inside of it. Is this possible? It is ashamed that the Navigon Co didn't think of this, protecting folks who buy returned Navigon products, since the new owner has the right to register it. I really would like to get fresh maps and have it registered. Their online help/contact line have not been helpful, since they are programmed to only answer questions that are on their inquiry list, like a robot who can't understand the customer's needs. Anyway, can I crack this (though I am not a tech savy in tech stuff as in computers)? It would be nice to outrid the theif somewhere out there, by back tracking them, totake back the serial number, so I can register it under my name and get the thing (gps) going. I would appreciate your insights. I've done all the accesses on the device, to look up every nitch atom in it regarding device version and the works, to see if the serial number was listed inside the software, but no avail. Some applications say it is not valid in WIN32, which means I can't go in and see what's there. Hmm. Any help you can give, this would be great. Thanks.
