upgrade from mapopolis

A while back I bought a used Palm Treo 650 with a Rikaline Bluetooth receiver. It runs Mapopolis from a memory card in the smartphone. When I bought the phone I knew that Mapopolis would not be supported after a certain date. I needed the phone and the GPS was just a plus that I didn't think I'd use much. Turns out I like it much more that I thought I would. Can anyone tell me if I have any options upgrading from Mapopolis? Can I buy just the GPS software and still use the Rikaline receiver?

Re: upgrade from mapopolis

Do you have a data plan with your phone? is the treo 650 running windows?
If so, free options are google maps mobile and microsoft msn live search (with maps).

If you don't have a data plan...or windows, let me think...

hi max, I'm not sure what you mean by a daya plan but I have "Sprint PCS Vision Plan" which gives me internet and email access on the phone. My 650 runs Plam ver?.? and not Windows.

Aha, yes I believe that plan means you do NOT pay for internet usage by the kilobit(?) and it's basically unlimited internet?

If so...give this a check, they CLAIM to have a PalmOS version

There is also TomTom for the PalmOS, but it's pricey

Yes, there is a google maps download for palm os, you can get the download here:

Mobile

It will install on your PC as a .prc file and you sync it to the device.

Re: upgrade from mapopolis

Hey Max,

Thanks for the tip. I'll try it and let you know how it turns out. Nice looking scooter in the picture. Never had a Beemer, but always wanted one.

Thanks,
Bob
