Leica coordinate transformation

I was wondering if anyone knows the best way to distibute the residuals after doing a coordinate transformation. I have just been leaving them with out adjustment, but there has got to be a better way

Re: Leica coordinate transformation

Just making the rover work in a local Coordinate System. I have had good results and the residuals have been small. No more than a tenth on a point here and there using about 8 points. I know that after you do the localization you have several option as far as what to do with the residuals and was wondering if one method was better than another

Re: Leica coordinate transformation

sounds like you have things pretty well sorted out. using your local coord system is no big deal. we use locals occasionally. once you have a couple of good localization points the scale and rotation are a snap. try to least squares adjust your 8 points before you run the transformation. maybe this will minimize the errors. a tenth is still not a bad miss in the grand scheme of things.
