Newbie Question about maps

I have the Triton 1500. It comes with a very basic map. I also though have the National Geographic map for my state which is a topo map. I have an upcoming backpack trip and entered waypoints and a route using the National Geographic software and then downloaded them to my triton. They do show up but without any detail from the topo maps. The built-in map that shipped with the unit only shows major roads and no topo information.

Is this because the NG maps cannot be downloaded to the Triton or am I doing something wrong? I've also had it complain at times that there is no room on my SD card yet it is empty.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Newbie Question about maps

I'm a noob too and I did a search through this forum looking for almost the same info you looked for 6 months ago and found nothing. A couple of disturbing things...first I find it hard to believe that you did not get a response from someone on this forum that knows something about this problem. Second, it could be that folks like me that have a Magellan product (I have a Triton 500) have found it to be EXTREMELY frustrating trying to work with something that is not in the least bit intuitive and doesn't have much of a support system and therefore don't know the answer to your problem.
I have downloaded some Nat Geo maps on my unit but I ended up having to call Magellan support to figure out how to do it. That in itself was very frustrating also. That was about 6 or more months ago and unfortunately my memory for completing that arduous task has escaped me or I would fill you in on how to do that. If anyone has any info on this subject it would be much appreciated.
