According to the manual, from the Main Menu screen, press Settings, then tap System, then Time Zone.

Manual available here.

My Garmin Nüvi won't automatically switch time zones, either, and it should. Even my 10+ year old Lowrance handheld does this automatically.

Re: Magellan 1420 RoadMate, won't change time zones

Yes, the user manuals pretty much, in general, suck. However, so many of these simple questions could be answered on the spot if people just went through the menus and actually LOOKED to see what settings/options were available. Usually, it's a only a couple of taps away...as evidenced here... They'd probably even learn a lot more about their unit once they put eyeballs on every menu and know what's where and what's available. I know I have.

It's as if they're afraid they'll break it or something.

Yes, but I like the hidden screens best (Easter Eggs), and they are very hard to find using menus!

For instance, on the nüvi you have to press and hold the signal strength icon to see the satellite acquisition page. Try finding that in a manual, or just pushing buttons!

Oh, and there are some where you have to be pushing on a particular spot on the screen while powering the unit off and on. And I understand you can toast your OS if your timing is wrong. It is possible to hurt a computer or a GPS by "just pushing buttons". Even if unlikely.
