| explorist 210 firmware and basemap issue
I have an old Magellan eXplorist 210, circa 2005, which stopped functioning correctly two weeks ago. I am not sure which occurred first but I have no basemap and have had recurring "press ENTER to configure NAND, press ESC to exit" issues. I contacted Magellan tech support and learned about some of the 'secret' keys to restore communication to the device. I was able to get the unit working again except for the basemap issue. However, after I shut down the unit and replaced the batteries I again received the "press ENTER to configure NAND, ..." During my recovery session with Magellan tech support I came across "Unit has no map! Initiating upload" and then the unit locked up. Tech support said nothing could be done except either trade-in the unit for an upgrade or try a third party found on-line. Is there anyone out there who has original firmware (v3.1.75) for this model year and can help me download the basemap.mgi file? I have since downloaded an firmware upgrade (v3.1.78) made for 2006 model 210's. Not sure if this is compatible. Is there anything I can do before I throw the unit into the fire pit?
