| Magellan Meridian connection issues
I recently purchased a data cable (USB-style not serial port) for my magellan meridian marine gps unit thinking it would be easier than a serial cable, and it synchronizes with Easy GPS software wonderfully. However, I am trying to install the firmware update from magellan (Software Update vT4.51 Marine) and when I go to run the .exe file for the update, it cannot find the gps unit because it only recognizes COM ports not the USB I purchased. Even if I tell the program to look for the gps unit on COM7 or COM8 it cannot connect. I have already adjusted the NMEA and baud rate connectivity options on my unit. Any solutions?
