| Maestro 4000 Car Adapter Issue
When the car adapter is plugged in the unit comes on but shortly after a message pops up asking if I want to continue on battery power. The message goes away and returns 5 -20 seconds later over and over.. any ideas?

Dumb question, but are you using anything inline with the plug that could cause a voltage drop? maybe a flakey fuse in the 12vdc adapter? Sounds like something's coming and going voltage wise, or the battery is having problems (in the magellan). If you charge it in the house for an hour or two and then take it out - do you still get the same issue? Im thinking the car adapter is toasted...

Thanks for the reply Max. I agree ..the GPS keeps displaying this message as if the adapter was just unplugged. I think the adapter is folding back some how due to possible over current. Tests OK with a meter..and the GPS behaves normally with the AC charger..This is an aftermarket..model ..I may have to purchase direct from Magellan... |
