Just bought the 3225...

...but am considering taking it back. It was purchased just yesterday, and I have been given to understand that the maps on these units are outdated. I was also informed that Magellan might offer one free update for newly purchased units. However, I could find no info on that at the Magellan site. What was alarming, though, is that I could find no mention of ANY updates, for this unit. Other than that, I really like this little unit (my first GPS), but may have to return it for one that I can get updates for.

If I DO have to return it, could someone suggest another good unit? I don't need all of the bells & whistles (MP3 player/Photo viewer/AAA/etc.) that some come with. Just an accurate unit, with text-to-speech - as well as USA/Canada maps would be sufficient for me. Though my current unit has the smaller screen, I wouldn't mind the larger screen size, providing that I could find one with a good deal on it.

Advanced thanks.

Nathan

Re: Just bought the 3225...

My initial post can be disregarded, as I wound up keeping the 3225. Many had suggested that I go the route of the Garmin, or TomTom units, but there have been issues with some of these also. I understand that service, at Magellan, leaves quite a bit to be desired. But I just hope that I have a unit which will not begin to exhibit problems.

I have been giving it a some good runs, throughout the city, and have only encountered one problem. It attempted to route me down the closed end of a dead-end street. I think that I will be all right this 3225 - my very first GPS unit.

Blessings,
Nathan
