Maestro 3100 update problem!

the device has a syntax error
press any key to continue...

so i press a key and it closes the command screen and stats again... same thing, and i can't exit because it's stuck in this loop so i have to end the process.

I called Magellan and they hung up on me once, then the second time b/s me around and said they're going to need to send me a new product cd (same thing mine came with) but it doesn't make sense, the update instructions don't even mention the cd in the first place... another thing is that they dont even have a cd, they have to send me a burned copy?? wth is that about, but if someone could help me fix this prob, it'd be great

my device will boot but only show the Magellan logo and loading bar and will not continue (even after a reset)

Re: Maestro 3100 update problem!

I can't really help as I've never used a Magellan, but don't expect much from Magellan. Seems some posters have reported really bad customer service from them.

Sorry.

Re: Maestro 3100 update problem!

I tried to update my Roadmate 760 and the software they send erased all my maps and then gave me a copy failed error message. When I finally got through to technical support they said send it in and they would fix it. It has been almost a month with no word. I like the GPS, but the customer service sucks.

Re: Maestro 3100 update problem!

I also had the very same problems with my Maestro 3100. I was in contact with Magellan early this afternoon. They told me to NOT use the update as it destroys the unit. I told them too late, because no where on their web site does it say not to use the update. They told me to return the unit to where it had been purchased for a replacement unit, and NOT run the updat until receiving an email stating the update has been repaired. The tech I had spoke to said that the current update on their site would be removed in January and replaced with a "fixed" update when the engineers returned to work after the holidays.

these guys sound like a total class act...

Generally when you make consumer devices as your mainstay - you try not to do things like say...knowingly brick their newly procured gps navigation systems and tell them "yeah we'll get around to fixing it at some point"

I think this is what they were really saying

They told me to return the unit to where it had been purchased for a complete refund so I could buy a Garmin.

Re: Maestro 3100 update problem!

Apparently they didn't "fix" the update, because I just tried to use it and it wiped out my unit; all I have is the logo and a black bar across the bottom. And this is October, 2008!!

Re: Maestro 3100 update problem!

You guys are scaring me. I was going to update my Maestro 3140, but now I am not so sure. Has anyone heard anything about a 3140 locking up like you guys are describing?
