| Garmin Mobile PC - OFF Road option
I'm trying to use Mobile PC in a helicopter, trying to follow a route in the sky...I've selected the off road option but the program keeps on showing the route via the road oprtions (as if I'm a car) and not a direct route to point A to B.....but following streets...how do I get the program to navigate to each way point along the route ignoring the streets......Thanks...

Uh...good luck trying to use that in the AIR. Use the proper, current VFR/IFR sectionals and pubs...and stay LEGAL. |

Okay...not sure if that comment (sviking) was productive or any way answered my question...I'm trying to complete an aerial photography project which would supplemet the current Heli GPS system (not replace it)...I have routes and way points defining the flight plan and looking for a GPS navigations system that I can use with a lap top rather than using Garmins Aera GPS.$,,,,

Well, you didn't exactly say what you wanted to do with it, now, did you? Just that you wanted to navigate and "follow a route" in the sky, which would be very dangerous for actual navigation, especially under IFR conditions. But, whatever. Look for an "off road" setting. Virtually every road type GPS navigation unit/program/application has it so it won't follow roads. It could also be called "pedestrian mode" or something... |

Google's some amazing stuff when you take 5 seconds and do a search for yourself, huh? And, I'll bet your "resolution" was exactly what I told you. Put it in "off road" mode, or whatever it's called for that application. |
