Hi all i am new to the forum. I have a street pilot c550 and i purchased this from a car shop last year. i ahve recently pluged the sat nav in to my pc to up date the maps to the latest version via the garmin web site. After purchasing the maps following the on site instructions and then trying to down load the maps to the street pilot the down load stoped and told me that the unit is registerd to another user. I then chose to down load to the memory card to try to get round this and it faild again giving the same error message.

So my question is does anybody know how to shange the registerd user on a street pilot because now i am left with an out of date unit and out of pocket for the price of the up dates & i know you have 12 months to down load the maps this has me stumped ????

I can only think that the unit has been registerd before at the shop before i brought it and that the garmin website recognises the serial number of the street pilot.

Hi guys,
An up date for you i have been able to get to the bottom of this issue the unit i purchased was an ex demo that garmin sold and had sent back because the customer said it was faulty.
Garmin checked the unit over then sent it out to a indipendent seller that sold it to me for a knock down price. (No it was'nt a back street gaurage)
When i tried to up date the maps from garmin's web site i encounterd the (registerd to another user) fault because the origonal owner that brought it from garmin did not de register it from there account.

So if you guys encounter this issue it needs to be deregisterd from the origonal ownesrs account. contact garmin send them the 8 digit serial code & they will unlock it for you i was not asked for the origonal purchase reciept.

I had a similar problem when I won a Garmin 2210 on Fleabay. I had to contact the seller, who in turn had to explain to Mother Garmin that his unit had a new owner. Turned out OK eventually.
