Hello Folks, I own a couple of units. A Garmin Quest I bought for my wife when she was in real estate & a Magellan Explorist XL for me - primarily for fly-in fishing trips in Ontario, Canada & on local streams (SW Ohio). Garmin still works very well although the road maps & points of interest are not up to date. The Explorist is a great piece of hardware - AA batteries, SD card capability - great when the nearest power is 50 miles away BUT Magellan support and map software is absymal. I have USA Topo 3D maps loaded. To me it takes a lot of work to select an area of interest, transfer & save to an SD card. Also don't understand why it limits the size of the regions as much as it does, takes lots of work to set up what can be put on the SD. I also bought a copy (legal CDs) of Topo Canada but have never gotten it to load on my PCs - either VISTA or MS XP. It seems everything but the latest items from Magellan are 'legacy'.
