| How I save tracks into a microcard
Hi all I use a 60 csx GPs for adventure race (3 day long) and I want to know how to save tracks into the 4Gb microcard inside the GPS, because the Gps only save a limited track on it Regards Christian |

Welcome to GPSD Christian! ![]() You'll want to enable "log track to data card" function before you go on you adventure. Then it will save a tracklog for each day automatically on the card. This log will be separate from the tracklog that you view in the device. You won't see anything listed under the "saved tracks" section, but they will be listed as GPX files (HumVee's last screen shot). If you've already run the 3 day race and didn't use the "log track to data card" function, you can offload the track to Mapsource and see the full log. As you mentioned, if you save it to the GPS itself, the track points will be reduced to save space. |

Thanks for your support As the internal memory is different as the data card, I asume that I have to erase the tracks on the internal memory to continue saving tha data into the data card. Example.- In the second screenshot shows 80% of used internal memory and in the last shows 52%. What I have to do in that case if I am in the first day of race. Thanks Christian |

The internal track log and the one stored on the data card will be written simultaneously. The percentage shown on the second screenshot is only for the internal log data. Even if that runs to 100%, the data card will continue to store tracks. You can have more than 10,000 track points when using the data card to store track log files also. It just keeps writing them as long as there is free space on the card. So basically you can ignore that percentage full indicator when using the "log track to data card" function. During the race just let it run and it will save the tracks as GPX files, even if that bar shows 100% full. The only thing stopping the track files on the data card will be free space on the card itself. With a 4 gb card that shouldn't be an issue unless you have it full with mapdata. How much free space do you have on the card? I keep my 76CSx set to record tracks every 0.01 of a mile. and have about 700 mb free on the card. As an example I have a GPX file with 3504 track points. It is only 477KB in size. |

Thanks Andy Yes, you are right. I have to check my GPs settings and see the distance between points, because the track distance storage on the internal memory depends on it. Also, perhaps I'm a little confused, so let me ask you a few questions. Can I put back the GPX file into the internal memory and see the way back to the start line of the race?, or do I need a Computer to do that? To be sure, with the procedure that HumVee send me, it is enough to save the data?, or I have to set the GPS differently? Thanks for your patience, I am new on this and I have more questions like how to put some .DWG files or .SHP files into the GPS (Topo information) Thanks Christian |

The distance/time between track point setting also dictates what is recorded on the SD card GPX file. The GPX file are useless to the device itself. You'll need a computer to access them. You'd need to rely on the internal track log for tracking back to the start. So that may limit the frequency of track points you pick. The procedure HumVee posted is all you need to do! In his example he's got the log set to "Normal" instead of a specified distance or time. |
