Hi new to the forum, not new to GPS use. Have owned several GPS units in the last 4 years. First one was a Magellan Maesto 4000, stole off the dash of my semi in Wash DC. (wish I could have caught him in the act.) Second was another Magellan Maestro 4000 that had dc power plug problem internally that frustrated me soooo bad. It finally would not accept any power connection and died a slow lingering death. I recently purchased a refurbed Magellan 4250. Seems to be ok.
I do have a question. I received the free Spring 09 map undate on a SD card from Magellan and am trying to figure out how to get it to work on a back up SD card. I can back up the info on the Magellan factory one to a blank SD but can't get the backup to run in my unit. Is there a secret code or something on the factory one? Help. It would be nice to have a back up should I need it.

Hi mikeypa! Welcome to the site
Every SD card made has a unique ID built into. So, Magellan could be making it so it will only run from that card. But, I have absolutely no idea whether they do.

Maybe someone who has succeeded with what you want to do will wander along... Good luck.
