| New Swedish member on GPS forum Hi everbody! I recently moved from Chicago to Sweden. With me I brought a very much liked Garmin Quest II GPS. I have now found out that it not possible to change the pre-programmed maps from US maps to European ones. Why I now have a dilemma. Shall sell this GPS or try to find someone who is in the same situation but opposite and maybe want to swap GPS with me. Have anyone heard if is possible to unlock the pre programmed maps in order to change map? Any leads are welcome! Thank you. / Mats Last edited by Mats; 10-04-2008 at 9:00 AM. |

The only way I've heard of unlocking maps is through buying the software from either Garmin or a retailer. The maps are coded to your device's serial number so just swapping maps won't work. On devices that are preloaded with City Nav North America, when you apply the 2009 update for example, it overwrites the older version. So in theory, this is changing the pre-programmed maps. I would try calling Garmin's tech support and seeing if they would sell you the European maps to load. Welcome to the site, btw! |

Hi Andy! Thanks for your tip. I will try to call Garmin's support to see if a European map will over write the US map. BR, Mats |
