I just bought a nuvi 680 and I totally don't know how to use it. I know I will eventually learn it, but it is very frustrating now.

I recently bought a non skid friction mount for my nuvi but it didn't come with any instructions on how to install the nuvi on it. I can't figure it out, does anywone know how to intall the nuvi on this stupid thing?

creech3920, which mat? Can you point us to a website with a picture?

The Garmins have a cradle for mobile use... it is the cradle that mounts to the friction mat. Usually just a ball & socket kind of a deal.

Example: Amazon.com: Garmin Portable Friction Dashboard Mount for Nüvi Series and StreetPilot C5XX Series GPS Navigators (C530, C550 and C580): Electronics

This kind of mat is for the older C36xx whatever models, won't really work for a nuvi: Amazon.com: i.Trek V2 Open Front Heavy Duty Friction Mount Base for Garmin, TomTom, Magellan GPS Devices: Everything Else

Any way you look at it, you need the cradle that should have come with the GPS.

Thanks so much for your response....as it turned out, I bought the wrong part, I bought the replacement MAT, not the whole thing that comes with the arm attached.

I can buy the whole thing directly from Garmin, but this was much cheaper, but as it turned out, there was a reason for that.

Eventually I will learn the ins and outs of this new toy.
