| Newbie goes to London (and Paris)
Hello, I'm planning a trip to London and Paris next year and would like a handheld GPS unit that will work in a major city environment. I'm considering the Garmin eTrex Vista® HCx. I plan on doing quite a bit of walking and would love to plot museums and pubs... not necessarily in that order. I would appreciate any advice or opinions! Regards, HB |

I'm a fan of the (sirf'd) vista's, but I should first ask - what sort of mobile phone do you have? You might be better off using something integrated for your travels - as it would add less to your mess so to speak If you're decided on a dedicated GPS unit, the HCx is a pretty nice unit for the task. It should get you decent coverage and quick acquisitions no matter the location

That's a great idea about the phone. Sadly, I have a "pay-as-you-go" piece of crap phone, but I'll look into a new phone that may suit both needs. One less piece of equipment is so critical when traveling. Thanks, and GO CELTICS! |
