Howdy From Orygun!

Howdy from Orygun! Not exactly breaking news but I’m a newbie also. I’ve been wanting a GPS to help get out and back when my wife and I indulge our passion of trail riding via horseback in the back country of Oregon. I’m a little red faced to admit I have gotten turned around more than once at that familiar or “not so” familiar fork in the trail. So far all Oops were of a temporary nature.

My wife (completely blew me away) surprised me (no pre-discussion) by presenting me with a Garmin eTrex Legend on Christmas Eve. The user manual seems to indicate this GPS will function fine for my intended use? I’m hoping this will be all the GPS I need for our hobby? I think my “Rosie” did good.

I’m just not sure if there will be maps I can download for the areas we ride in. So knowing absolutely nothing about what and how to do what I’m hoping to do I’m here and will be gleaning as much as I can from reading other posts. I pray that silly questions will be tolerated. Thanks for allowing me along for the ride.

Welcome to the site CG

Sounds like your wife did a decent job of finding you just what you needed. As far as the mapping goes, I'll have to let some of the other experts speak on the issue but I am pretty sure you'll be able to use it just finely for your intended usage

Thanks Max for the welcome and the info. I suspect I'm in the wrong area to ask any further questions. So I'll just bebop around until I think I've found where I need to be and embaress myself with asking stupid questions. Thanks again.

Just remember the golden rule the only stupid questions are the ones I ask - so you're probably fine
