MOST DIRECT ROUTING

I am a new user of a Garmin C550. I am still learning but trying to find which setting gives me the most DIRECT route to my destination.
Cars? Truck? Bus? Emergency? I am finding that the unit will direct me through areas that might be quickest in an ideal world, but traffic, stop lights, etc., not always the best route. Any insight would be appreciated.

Re: MOST DIRECT ROUTING

Heh, welcome...Do you have "avoidances" setup? If not - make sure you activated your traffic receiver (the 550 comes with one I believe) and have "avoid traffic" turned on.

Then its really up to you - set yourself up as a Car, and then choose either fastest route or shortest route, just remember the first one is a measure of time and the second of distance

I have a 530 myself and I will say sometimes the traffic monitor can be a bit confusing - so make sure you check out the garmin updates on the site, and get the unit running the latest of everything first
