Re: POI: Yellowstone National Park

as a Yellowstone Seasonal employee, it would be great if you could name these waypoints, as there are numerous point of interest and attractions in Yellowstone and the Tetons.

Re: POI: Yellowstone National Park

I've always wanted to visit the area so I'd definitely appreciate an update from an "insider". A motorcycle vacation including Yellowstone is high on my list.

Re: POI: Yellowstone National Park

Durting the season there are tons of motorcycles in the area, but you must be prepared for any type of weather. This last season it snowed in June and August. It was the wettest season on record, and cold. I'll see what I can do before I go back up. I work at Old faithful general store. My name is Wayne Minior and if you come see me I can give you some tips on areas that are a must see.

I remember that General Store. Geez, I haven't been to Yellowstone since about '88 or so. Right after the huge fires.

Re: POI: Yellowstone National Park

This will be my third season working there. I love the place and have a buddy who is a ex ranger and takes me on wonderful hikes. I believe that the new visitors center will be open this summer, supposed to be pretty spectacular. Maybe see you there mTolvola. Good luck

Re: POI: Yellowstone National Park

Would love to go there again, but it won't happen anytime soon. I went to Yellowstone back in the '80s when I was doing some nuclear power related work at the INEL over in Idaho. Beautiful country.

Re: POI: Yellowstone National Park

Yellowstone has recovered well from the 88 fires, come to find out the fires were a blessing as new trees have rejuvinated, and filled in the bare spots. If you have a facebook account, you can enter my page and see some of my favorite pictures.
Again that is
Wayne Minor.

Re: POI: Yellowstone National Park

Usually wildfires ARE good for rejuvenation. It burns out all the "old growth" and makes room for the new. It's been this way since the dawn of time and is perfectly natural.

That sounds like a great trip idea, Andy (bearing in mind Wayne's admonition to be prepared for all weather)! I too haven't yet made it to the park, and have it high on my list. I was going to hit Yellowstone & Grand Teton this summer and meet up with friends, but they're coming west instead. Perhaps the following summer! Wayne should have his update to the Yellowstone POI's by then!
