Replacing GPS software.

One of my dad's friend way back in Utah no longer needed his iGo8 anymore. I got in touch with him and he managed to send me a copy of the software. H charged us 30$ for it, didn't include the maps, ah well, I can get that off iGo's website with a update disk purchase. Anywho. I've run into a problem. I have a dead Mio C310x, well, the Navi software is dead. So, now I have the software, a clean Flash drive in the GPS unit, but... The window's has some files in need of removal and change for it to work properly. Well, I got a text editor for Wince and changes the Navi software path to the correct folder, well, it didn't work too well, I found out in order for it to work, I must remove the old Miomap files from the window's folder and have Wince autorun Igo at startup. Thing is, I have no access into the windows folder, that is, I can't delete or modify files from the folder due to it being at the ROM. I need help at that part. Well, is there anyway I can flash the ROM with a fresh empty version of Wince 4.2? Apparently it's very cheap these days. And, if this topic's question is against the rules, a mod can freely lock it! No questions asked. Thanks in advance!

Thanks for replying, I'll continue to conduct research on it. I'm stumble upon a solution one day. Perhap's I'll even post my findings here, maybe a tutorial or two if anyone wants to revitalize their GPS with new (legally obtained) software.
