MicroSD card upgrade in Bushnell Onix 400

I just bought a Bushnell Onix 400 and it comes with a 128mb card only that I have filled up.

So I bought a new 4 Gig card, formatted it FAT and copied the data from the 128 card to it. Now when I start the 400 up it says SD card self test failed?

Any ideas?

Re: MicroSD card upgrade in Bushnell Onix 400

Hope you have this fixed by now.
First I'd ask if it is an SDHC or plain SD card. Your unit might not be able to use SDHC cards, though usually 4Meg is fine for either.
Then I'd ask if there is a way to format it in your unit rather than in your PC.
Let us know what you end up doing to get it right.

Re: MicroSD card upgrade in Bushnell Onix 400

I sent an email to Bushnell about MicroSD, here was their reply:

A 2GB microSD card will be the maximum size compatible with the Onix 400. You will want to transfer the files on your current card to your new card. If you have any questions about this process, please contact our customer service department and we would be happy to help you with this.

I purchased a Kingston 2GB (I could always use it in something else) only to find that it didn't work. I have read somewhere that you must use a SanDisk card. I just ordered one... hope it works.

On a side note, I fully formatted (not the quick format) my 128mb card and tried it again. It not only worked, the 400 re-wrote the folders to the card. I haven't noticed any side effect of deleting the system file onixfs.bin (which is ~65Mb).

Re: MicroSD card upgrade in Bushnell Onix 400

The Kingston 2GB card did not work, got a 2GB SanDisk card which did work. I found a nasty side effect though, the more maps you add, the longer it takes the unit to boot up. Im not too sure how many maps I have at this point, but it takes about 10 min from the time I press the power button to the time I can use it.
