| Nav740 modifications
Hi all, I don't know how many of you are familiar with the V7 line of devices (720, 730, and 740), but I'm having trouble with mine and was hoping for some help. I've successfully unlocked the WindowsCE Explorer as described in the first post of this thread over at the GPS Passion forums, and proceeded to install the Stan Matofu skin mentioned later in the aforementioned post. I successfully copied the modified "data.zip" file onto the SD card inserted into the device, but when I next started it up and tried to launch the V7 Navigation program, an hourglass popped up in the middle of the screen and would not go away. The device wouldn't respond to anything else, so I left it to sit there. Over a half hour passed and still nothing had happened, so I proceeded to do a hard reset of the device, swapped the modified data.zip for the original, and everything works fine now. Any ideas as to what went wrong? I know many of you probably have no experience with this device, but any insight is very much welcome. Thanks! | |

I don't have any experience with WinCE devices, but does it read .zip files? Maybe you need to extract the files from the compressed zip before loading them on the card. Just a guess though. Welcome to the forum, btw! |

| Re: Nav740 modifications tmad40blue, try redownloading the file. You may have had a corrupt download. I hope you'd backed up the original file! Does that work if you replace the modded file with the original?

| Re: Nav740 modifications I've tried redownloading the file 5 times to no avail. I made a backup of the original before I started anything, and as I said in my first post, putting the original data.zip back onto the device restored everything to normal. So I'm still stuck.

Sorry, trying to get the kids to bed and too distracted to read throughly! Did you read all 7 pages of the forum thread? It looks like you're not the only person experiencing a problem getting the zip file to load. Have you tried contacting Graveworks?
