I have a brand new never used still in package garmin etrex vista.

Paid $230 for it.

Is this a Vista HCx or regular Vista?

The regular vista is selling new for ~150$ or so, so I figured you may have an HCx

the vista with the topt package was going for $260 on a few websites. Regular vistas without the topo package are running for 150. Thats what makes up that extra price!

Care to clarify what "topt package" is?

it is the mapsource topo cds. There is 2 in total and it is the software to download topo maps to the gps.
