I am wondering what unit(s) have the best manual route planning. I will eventually use this on a motorcycle and do know about the Zummos but do not ride in the rain much and was hoping I did not have to pay that much money just to get this important feature. I do a lot of back road riding and driving and just hate the re-routing feature of my nuvi 350. Sorry if I am repeating another thread, I searched and could not find what I was looking for. bikerbehaviouris, you are repeating an often brought up subject (the last most recent was taminator's request for a sub-$300 motorcycle GPS). It can be hard to search for topics, since we don't all use the same words to describe the same concepts. But the short answer (& just my opinion) is that you should replace your Garmin nüvi 350 with a Garmin nüvi 500 or 550. These models are physically identical, and only differ in the map packages they come with. Read my comments on the taminator thread to learn why I recommend them. There are less expensive GPS units (most of them not waterproof or with very small screens), and I have friends that use them on bikes - but personally, I don't think a plastic bag or a condom stretched over a GPS unit is the ideal solution.
