2004? Jeez, what an antique!

No really, welcome to the site but I have a Toyota. No help from me. On mine the CD slot is behind the faceplate of the radio. Except there are two slots... the lower one being the GPS DVD.

under the passenger seat. How to identify the model? I don't know at this time. I too would like to find out how much is the upgrade cost. Is it worth $185? Maybe a bit too high as most garmin models are now within that price range...

You nailed it with the price issue. I'd get a brand spankin' new Garmin and the $90 or so LIFETIME map update subscription for that unit. And, you'd have your very own navigator to take on trips where you'd be renting a car...or in a friend's or other family member's car...and not have to learn to use a new system since it would be your personalized travel buddy you'd be using.

Hey, for what it's worth (no pun intended), I found update for $150 on www.mapupdatemonth.com. Like sviking, I had the idea to get a Garmin, but the irony of having bought a "Pilot" and paying for the upgrade pkg. to have the nav in the first place, I felt silly not using it to its fullest and then having something extra making the dash look cluttered.
