Re: GPS/Sirus radio combo

magarren, didn't SIRIUS and XM merge? I must admit that I haven't been keeping up on the satellite radio trends. Garmin makes a couple of road navigation GPS units that are XM satellite capable. The zūmo 550 is XM Compatible (which means you must purchase an accessory receiver antenna, which typically costs another $100), while the soon to be released zūmo 665 will have it included. They're quite expensive, however, because they are designed to be rugged so that they can be used on motorcycles (where they are exposed to the elements). I think that some of Garmin's aviation and nautical GPS systems also have XM capability - but they are even more expensive than the zūmo's! If all you're interested in is satellite radio music, then you're better off getting an XM radio capable car stereo (or modular system for home & car use). The primary reason for having XM radio capability in a GPS unit is for traffic & weather subscription services.

Re: GPS/Sirus radio combo

The larger Garmin GPS Chartplotter systems do have an AM/Sirius capability. You add a GDL 30 or 30A to the system and it gives SM music and even weather radar data. It is about a $400 dollar addition. The weather radar information is displayed on the screen of the basic unit.
