Hello All

I am new here. I just bought the sd card version of topo western Canada. I put it in my GPS (60csx) I go to info in the maps page it looks as if it is recognizing it but how do I know it is really working. Is there anyway to test this.

Hello, Sharms! I'm sure the new topo map is "working" for you - but since the 60CSx comes with an Americas Recreational basemap, I could see where it would be hard to see right off the bat. The easiest way to verify is to turn off the basemap, and then view your map display to see if it still shows a topographical map. To do that on your Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx, press the Menu button while you're in map view, then press it again to get into map settings where you can use the rocker pad to move down and highlight map sets and deselect/select them. If you deselect all of your map sets except for Topo Canada - West and still see a topographical map on your display, then you'll know it's working!

Now I know that you can't see road maps and topographical maps at the same time because they're not transparent - though I don't understand why they couldn't be made that way...I think it would be great to have terrain details with my road data (as long as I could turn it off and declutter when desired)! What I don't know for certain is if the Americas Recreational map and purchased additional topo maps can be viewed simultaneously. I have a GPSMAP 76CSx with the same basemap, Topo U.S. 24K - West and City Navigator North America NT loaded. I have to turn off the road map to see topo, but I don't think I have to turn off the basemap in order to see my 24K data....
