| Re: Map Software required Rashart, you aren't able to contact the vendor who sold you the GPS unit? If I understand it correctly, maps are generally saved in proprietary formats by each manufacturer. Garmin maps only work in Garmin GPS devices, Magellan and TomTom only work in their devices (despite the fact they often have the same map data source - NAVTEQ). You may have a very tough time of it, looking for maps compatible with your WinCE device's GPS software. If the PDA isn't totally locked down, then you might be able to purchase an entirely different GPS solution for PDA. Garmin has their Mobile XT for Windows Mobile SmartPhones. Windows Mobile OS derived from WinCE, but I have no idea if this product would be compatible the older version of the OS. |

Yeah, typically this story doesen't have a very happy ending my friend The supplier in China never seems to include this maps with the purchase of the unit because they don't have any. The downside is, electronics are cheap...electronic cartography and it's licensing to navteq, teleatlas, digitalearth, are the expensive part. If it runs a windows ce core, you're best bet is seeing if you can get a navigon software build running on it or another WinCE OS product.
