| Garmin BaseCamp
PC Garmin: BaseCamp Updates & Downloads Mac Garmin: BaseCamp for Mac Updates & Downloads Both quite different products with the same name. PC version looks like a new product whilst the Mac product looks like functionality glued onto RoadTrip. Anyway, one feature that I DID try on the Mac works pretty well but is a bit cumbersome at the moment. Select one of your tracks and you can click the 'Camera' button and point the software at a folder with JPG files in it. The software will go out and attempt to GeoTag the photos based on Camera and GPS time. You can also introduce an offset to compensate for DST etc. (which I had to do for my test - had to enter -1hr for the offset). So the procedure for iPhoto 09 on the Mac is... 1. Import your Photos. 2. Drag them out to a folder. 3. Delete your Photos from iPhoto :S 4. Run RoadTrip... err sorry BaseCamp and load the track from the GPS. 5. Double click the track to pull up the properties. 6. Select the Camera icon and point it at the piccy folder. 7. Let the GeoTagging finish. 8. Delete all the photos from BaseCamp if you don't want them on the map there (they DO appear )9. Drag your newly GeoTagged photos back into iPhoto 09 and you can see 'Places' information and see them on the map in iPhoto ^^ -Andy |

Interesting. How did you find this on Garmin's site anyway? They've redone their updates pages and some things have just disappeared. (Nroute for example)

Sorry, should have mentioned. The links come from a thread on forums.groundspeak.com and 'g-o-cachers' posted them there. I really wanted to mention it here though because folks have been talking about GeoTagging a lot recently. ...and ooops I though I had put this in the Garmin forum. |

| Re: Garmin BaseCamp I'm assuming that you want topo maps since this thread is about Garmin Basecamp and Basecamp only works with maps that have a Digital Elevation Model. Unfortunately AFAIK there are no such maps of Malta. Medcomms Ltd Malta maps does Nuvis with Maltese road maps. and you might find some free ones derived from OpenStreetMap but they won't have DEM so you will not be able to use them with Basecamp. |
