Mio Knight Rider GPS

Anyone use a Mio? Would love to have the LED's instead of the voice cutting into my music. Easily switchable when I turned my music off.

Re: Mio Knight Rider GPS

Well I got one Knight rider GPS by Mio (Model Number N191)! From other peoples reviews Mio has cleaned up there act and recalled a lot of the older stuff they sold. I must say I'm impressed. It was 249.99$ through Amazon the week it was released and the thing has held it's own up against my dads Nuvi and my G-510. It still doesn't have the overpass that was built in 08 but neither does Garmins 09 .

It has a very nice layout and is lighter than most GPS's Ive used. It uses Windows CE so it doesn't have a real proprietized system and once it finds your loacation is faster than the Garmin updating . If your a Knight Rider geek this is a must have!!!! William Daniels is older and the voice is a little deeper but hey IT'S WILLIAM DANIELLS!!! Not some bland nobody! He however doesnt give streetnames but you can load a different voice and it will. Trying to get William Daniells to do every steet name would be kinda hard and it wouldn't be right synthesized.

It does have it's drawbacks one being it doesnt show you poi's in a list and the distance from you but has more POI's than Garmin so thats a tradeoff. (Thats the only feature I used on the Garmin and miss.)

The biggest bonus is that they will give you an updated map has soon as it comes out for FREE!!!! That is the biggest problem I have with Garmin is how money hungry they are for there maps and won't even let you have a copie for all the GPS's you own unless you pay them!!!! Overall I am very pleased with this 4" GPS for 250$ but will wright a lengthier review when I make a trip to Indianapolis this weekend with it.
