n00b with a quick question

Hello all! I'm a motorcycle enthusiast and lately I've been exploring and finding some really great roads in the middle of nowhere. The only problem I am having is when I go back to ride the great road I found the week before I can't seem to find it again.

Is there a gps that after I find a great road I could simply stop, hit a button on the gps and it would remeber where I was?

I'm not looking to spend hundreds of dollars and I do not need anything fancy. I just want to be able to get back to the same roads.

What unit would be recommended for my need? Any other tips or suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Most any GPS should allow you to add personal waypoints or "favorites", so you can mark a location.

OK.
So I'm looking for a gps that allows waypoints or favorites? I wasn't sure of the proper term. That will help. Any suggestions as far as a specific unit for this?

Re: n00b with a quick question

The hard part is that a GPS has to see the sky to function, so you cannot stuff it in your leathers or cargo box.

And if you mount it, you need one that will stand up to motorcycle abuse.

That is why the Zumo is so expensive.

So asking for an inexpensive, motorcycle compatible, GPS is kind of an oxymoron.

But one of the riders will offer some suggestions soon...

How about that e-trex legend Costco has on sale for $149?

Re: n00b with a quick question

Go onto Ebay and pick up a used Mio168, this Little PDA/GPS takes most available software loads (TomTom navigator, IGO, Garmin XT Mobile, Navigon etc.) and works in my pocket with antenna folded down. You can also get a handle bar mount for it.
Store all your contacts (and route to them with certain programs) plus add favorites and POIs.
I have had one for 4 years and it has never let me down, remember that battery life for most GPS devices tends to be less 4 hrs.

ninja279 - "route to contacts" - never thought of that. That's a great idea! Thanks.
