GPS data puller?

First hello to everyone it this community, I just joined.
I am buying an expensive bike for city commuting, but I am afraid of it getting stolen, so I wanted to put a gps received somewhere on the bike, so that I can track it from my PC.
I then researched this topic and I red on wikipedia, that the device that I need is a GPS unit that is a "data puller", the location is being transfered to an internet server and I can view it from any computer. The problem is that I didn`t find even a single model or even manufacturer of such devices.
Can anyone help me find one?

Re: GPS data puller?

I'll check for a site that offers them, but need to mention first that since (here in the US) these operate via cell phone signals, they are rather expensive. And not a one-time expense, but every month.

Oh, and welcome to the site!

Okay, it is the "puller" part that caused you problems. Try googling "GPS Tracking Device" and you will get lots of hits. Here is one: GPS Tracking System | Small Covert GPS Device
selected at random - I am not recommending.

Re: GPS data puller?

Firstly, whats the bike? I've never had one that wasn't expensive eventually

Second, the metal roof of a van defeats most GPS signals...so most would only work if the theif is riding it. I'd give Lo-Jack a shot if you're really in a super metro area. The Cell/GSM gps can work well, but (I won't get into methods) there are a few pretty easy ways to block your bike from sending any telemetry at all to the outside world.

Sorry, not trying to dissuade you...just saying for theft protection, a good insurance policy is the best thing.

Re: GPS data puller?

Lo-jack doesn`t work in Bulgaria. I checked the link dav gave me and the cheapest such device is $400... that`s almost a half of my future bike`s price. I expected that it would be pricy, but I had hoped that there is some cheap-ass chinese alternative...
