Copy SD Card Data

I have 2 uniden Maptrax GPS units. My dog chewed up one of the SD data cards...aaarrrggg...
I did purchase another 2 gig SD card, hoping to transfer the data from
one card to another, using windows XP and 2 card readers.
I first downloaded the SD card data to my hard drive, then inserted the new SD card
and initiated a copy..Didn't work... ! The copy process ended saying "not enough disc space, insert another disk"
I tried direct SD card to SD card transfer....same response..."not enough disk space"...
I tried to contact Uniden, hoping to purchase another SD card with data loaded...They don't have the loaded SD card as a PART to order..aaarrrggg...
I'll be damned, not gonna buy a complete new unit...@ 300.00..or so..just for the SD data card...
Has anyone had the same problem..???
I thought about getting a 4 gig card, but they are SDHC, or something..???...don't know
if the Maptrax is compatible...
I'd appreciate any info on this....
Thank you for reading my post...
Regards, Fred

Re: Copy SD Card Data

That is really odd that it can't copy a 2G card to a 2G card because there is not enough room!

Can't really answer that one, but can say that most of us are finding that the 4G card (not larger) is still compatible with non-SDHC card slots. And that all 4G is available. Could be worth a try to get a 4G card.

Re: Copy SD Card Data

What format is the new card in? Maybe it has some hidden system files taking up space? What file system is the card in? What file system is the original card?
