Sony GPS, possible to load maps ?

Hi,

I'm looking for a GPS unit right now. Since I own a sony mastercard with plenty of points on it, if I choose the sony one, it will cost nothing

I'm looking at the model NV-U83T. It will come with the whole North America preloaded, which is good. My only problem is that I travel very often to Europe and this is mostly where I need to use the GPS. I'm wondering if it's possible to buy the additional Europe maps and a memory stick or something like that to be able to use the GPS in America as well as in Europe.

Any experience with this ??

Thanks!

Re: Sony GPS, possible to load maps ?

The Sony looks like a nice enough unit. But Sony only sells two GPS units, and their own website does not offer any maps for sale or download.

My guess is you cannot put Europe maps on it, even though it does support a memory stick.

They also say they have a "Map Manager", but since they do not yet have manuals for their GPS devices online, it is hard to find out what that means. I suggest writing them an email from their tech support page at Sony eSupport - NV-U83T - Contact Support
