| choosing between HP IPAQ RX5965 and MIO c520
Hi all, AS the subject outlines, I am trying to decide between the HP IPAQ RX5965 PDA/GPS and a MIO c520. Would someone be able to recommend one over the other? The PDA functionalities of the HP would be a bonus, although mainly I would be using this for its GPS capabilitles. A list of what would be important to me follows: Ease of use POI support Red light/traffic cameras Satellite lock Re-routing speed And the number one feature that I would love for my GPS to include: Text to speech. I am aware the MIO has this feature on its GPS, whereas the HP does not. Is this something that can be bought and/or upgraded? This, and the fact that the MIO has a wide screen, is the one feature that would persuade me to buy the MIO over the HP. If someone could help me and/or add other ideas as to what to get instead of the abovementioned models, it would be very helpful. I'm looking at spending approximately AU$450, which is the price bracket that the GPS models above fall into. Thanks for your help and time. |

I would love the garmin nuvi 650 (or 660, as it seems to be more popular). However, here in Australia they go for about $750, which is $300 more than I was looking at spending .. :S

What type of text to speech are you looking for? Did you want it to read street names or just tell you via voice to "turn at the next intersection"? The OEM Nav system in my car doesn't read street names but I've found it works very well. Just as easy to navigate as when I'm using the Nuvi 660 and it's reading street names. Generally I just need to know when to turn, doesn't matter the street name. | |
