Nuvi 200 rewiring need help

Hi guys. I'm new here, not so new to electronics. My Nuvi 200 USB broke like a month ago. So i opened it up and saw that USB connector is loose from PCB, so i resoldered it. Took it to the car and it booted up and worked. So i went back and wanted to put some epoxy around for MORE strengh and accidentally some flowed inside connector itself thus not allowing USB cable to slide all the way in. Anyways in removing epoxy i screwed up something and it only runs from battery now. i tried soldering wires directly to the ground and 5th right pin on the unit but it doesn't power up from 5V garmin charger.

I was able to solder wires from the charger directly to the black/red wires comming from battery eliminating battery all together(I cut the tiny connector off). Unit power on if i connect to +5V. I know green is for the overcharge protection some sort of heat sensor or similar. Now what pins i need to power with what on the original USB connector to power unit on? As i'd like to keep battery in there anyways for possibility of taking unit out of the car. Because right now its powered directly from battery and shuts off as soon as i pull the plug. My concern is that because NUVI regulates the charge of the battery if i connect/splice in 5V from Garmin charger straight to the battery wires it will overcharge and set it on fire or smth.

For now i just hardwired it directly and removed the battery. Need ideas for big battery and charge controller. I figured i could add like 5000mah battery or smth. Not that i need it now but it would be so cool to have 24H GPS unit or could just convert to AA battery setup, but then it would be bulky so Li-Ion battery setup is first. How about double nuvi battery, have couple cell phone batteries in the drawer.

I have two of them and one broke. 1st i bought when they just came out, second on Fleabay for $45. I know new one is ~$100, but i have "hording" on gizmos and run them till they wear out completely. No need to buy new one as i use this broken one at work and it gets dropped etc
