Navigating saved routes on Streetpilot 2730

Hi,

I've tried using saved route to navigate and got completely confused.

Here's what I have done:

1. Create route in Google Maps
2. Convert it to GPX using GMAPtoGPX
3. "Simplify it" using GPSBabel
4. Load it up to the GPS using EasyGPS

After this, I can see the route and all the points in the GPS.
However, when I try to navigate it, the only thing I see are straight lines from one point to another, with generic instruction like "Northwest to point <blah>".

How do I make the GPS to actually navigate from previous point in the route to the next?

Do you have your GPS set for direct route (that is like an airplane) or "auto-routing"? You should be able to change it in Edit-Preferences-Routing

When I just punch in the destination, it navigates normally, following roads.

I know it's a pain, but have you tried putting those same points in manually to build the same route directly on the unit to see what it does? Sorry I don't have an answer for you, but I do have a 2720 and I'm interested in the answer. Never tried to do routes that way.
