1490T cronic powering off problem/crash issue

My 1490T has been having a cronic problem. It's just been replaced by Garmin and still crashes/shutdowns/poweroff and it's related to the "Show Map" function somehow.
I wonder if some other 1490T owners might want to confirm if they have this issue. It doesn't cause any damage but is just a big nusance when the device decides to turn itself off.
Here is a script I developed that (for me) demonstrates the issue and is 90% recreatable. Any insight from others that has/had this issue and how you deal with it. A good workaround would be appreciated. I do use "Show Map" enough where its become a little more than just an anoyance.
Thanks.

Here is the script/procedure:
Power on the Garmin 1490T
1) Create a favorite that you can navigate to.
2) Press "Where to"
3) Press "Favorites"
4) Press "All Favorites"
5) Pick the one you created in step 1
6) Press "Go" and wait for the route to be calculated
7) Press the top green bar to bring up the "turn list"
8) Press "Show Map" and wait for it to fully paint
9) Press the return arrow 3 times or just press and hold it
to get back to the main menu
10) Press "View Map"
11) At this point 90% of the time the screen starts to paint, half
the screen is solid blue (like water blue) and then the device just
goes black and is powered off. If on external power it will start up again
all by itself. If on internal battery it stays off until the power button is pushed.
Added information:
This failure occurs whether in GPS on or off mode (simulate off).
As of today all firmware is current.
I have had it fail at other times but they all seem related to using
the "Show Map" function where you see the entire route on one map.
It doesn't fail in "Show Map" but sometime after using that display.
It's as if "Show Map" corrupts some memory and using some other functions
eventually causes the 1490T to crash.
