Will the size of the memory card affect the performance of the GPS?

Hi! I just came across this post which claims that using a memory card larger than 2GB will have a negative impact on the performance of the Dakota 20. Is that true? Does anyone here have any experience or technical information on this?

I would not think a mere 2GB card would cause any problems. Have you asked the Garmin support on their website?

Yes, I've asked Garmin, but haven't received a response yet. The link doesn't say that 2GB would be a problem. The claim is that 4GB and larger "is a stretch".

I have a 60Csx with a 8 gig kingston card working just fine and I have heard some use a 16 gig.

+1

I'm running an 8gb Sandisk card in my 60CSx and have been for quite some time with no problems. I have about 6 gigs of map data on it between City Navigator, Garmin US TOPO and other custom topo maps. Card in or out...still performs the same "speed wise".
