trouble connecting bluetooth

Have not used my zumo 660 with my motorcycle for a few months, when I tried it today cannot get the zumo to recognise the headset (scala rider teamset) I follow all the instructions correctly but get the message "failed to connect with device"It worked fine the last time I used it about 3 months ago. Any Ideas??

Re: trouble connecting bluetooth

Try pairing the devices over again? They may have lost their pairing profile. Put both devices back to pairing mode (you may have to delete the old profile).

Re: trouble connecting bluetooth

I looked in the z660's Owner's Manual, and Bluetooth is discussed on pages 20 - 22 & 35. Page 35 discusses Removing (deleting) pairings from the zumo. Now that you've re-paired the Scala Rider headset to the zumo, can you make and receive calls? Is it just the music you're having problems with? Or do you not use the Scala Rider with a Bluetooth enabled phone?

Whether or not the phone capabilities are working, I'm wondering if you've enabled the Scala Rider/zumo pairing for audio. I don't know which version Scala Rider you have, but I think the newer ones are capable of A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile). There's a separate step (mentioned on Page 25) for pairing for Audio:
  1. Go to Bluetooth Settings
    • Tools > Settings > Bluetooth
  2. Under Audio, touch Add (or Change)
  3. Turn on your headset, and enable Discovery Mode
    • aka Visible mode, Find Me, etc.
  4. Touch OK on the zumo
  5. Select your headset from the list of found Bluetooth devices, and touch OK
  6. Enter the Bluetooth PIN/passkey for your headset (if necessary) and press Done
    • Unless you've changed it, your default manufacturer's PIN is usually 0000 or 1234
  7. Touch OK
  8. Press Back until you return to the main menu
I didn't have my Nolan N-Com Bluetooth headset with me today (I drove the truck), so I couldn't make any screenshots of the actual audio pairing process. Let me know if this helps!

Re: trouble connecting bluetooth

Thanks a lot HumVee for taking the time out to help me with this.I have done all the stuff above. And as i mentioned earlier i have managed to pair the headset and the zumo as per above, but i cant hear any of the verbal route instructions from the gps through the head set,I know the the headset is working, as i mentioned I can plug in my mp3 direct to the headset and can hear the music.

Re: trouble connecting bluetooth

A direct wired connection isn't the same as the the Bluetooth transceiver connection. It's possible to have one fail and have the other work. Do you have a Bluetooth enabled phone, and can you make and receive calls on the Scala Rider with it paired? I'm sure you already done the very basic "fiddling of the controls" on the Scala Rider, to make sure volume is turned up and all that - so the only thing I can think of is to check your Scala Rider with another Bluetooth device. If it works, then the issue is with your zumo - if you can't get audio with any Bluetooth device, then the problem would be with your Scala Rider.
