KNA-DV4100 HELP!!

I have a complete Kenwood system in my car. I have all the updated DVD maps for my KNA-DV4100 gps unit. I drove the car to costa rica and
obviously my USA map was not going to work so I went and bought a costa rican map at navsat here in Cr. They sold me an SD card with all up to date maps here in Cr and told me that I could just burn them into dvd format and that the car would read it..... They thought wrong. Of course they have my money ($149) so they say that they can't help me.
Does anyone know how I can transfer the SD info into DVD format so that the kenwood map unit can read it?
My DVD files all end in: .KWI or .DAT or .IDX and the files on the SD card are all .IMG and .GPI
