Nuvi 265 goes crazy when poi extras loaded

Put a few poi's I got from websites on my Nuvi 265 and it seemed to be lost, bad routes, speed was inaccurate distances not even close. Removed the poi's and it was back to normal. Some poi's were created manually with 'my poi manager' and others just downloaded from POI Factory and installed with poi loader. Any clues?

Re: Nuvi 265 goes crazy when poi extras loaded

edmilehi, I can't imagine why adding additional POI's to your nuvi would have any impact on your nuvi's day to day operations. I could see where it could have problems if the coordinates for a custom POI was invalid, but simply loading them and not selecting them shouldn't have any impact on your normal driving. I've been adding custom POI's from POI Factory to my zumo 660, and haven't run into any problems like that. In fact, the biggest problem I've run into is that the custom icon's won't show on my zumo's map display (but the same POI's display fine on my GPSMAP 76CSx).

Still, if you feel that the issue is definitely with your custom POI's, I suggest using a process of elimination. Only load one custom POI set onto your device at a time. Test your GPS for functionality - if all good, add on more set. Presumably, if your nuvi goes haywire again immediately after loading an additional POI set - that set would be the one to blame. Remove it and examine it (it's just a CSV file) to see if you can spot any errors in formatting that might cause the problem. If you identify the problem POI set, maybe upload it here so we can take a look at it too.

Good place to start, the same thing happened on a Nuvi 205 who loaded the same poi's.

Thanks
